Kaushik Iska
Engineering leader focused on high-performance databases and distributed systems. Co-founder and former CTO of PeerDB (YC S23), acquired by ClickHouse. I lead engineering for Postgres managed by ClickHouse and the database integrations behind the company’s next generation of data infrastructure.
Experience
Leads engineering for Postgres managed by ClickHouse, one stack for transactions and analytics, along with database integrations: Postgres and MySQL CDC in ClickPipes, and the open-source mcp-clickhouse server.
Co-founded PeerDB (YC S23) to make Postgres replication fast, simple, and cost-effective: a native CDC and ETL platform built in Go on Temporal, streaming Postgres to data warehouses, queues, and storage. Acquired by ClickHouse in 2024; it now powers ClickPipes for Postgres.
Worked on Flutter, including macOS support, the Metal embedder, variable refresh rate displays, Impeller on Vulkan, and the Fuchsia embedder, where I was tech lead.
Led a team of three building SafeGraph Places, the most accurate points-of-interest dataset for the United States.
- Built core geospatial products with xgboost, Spark ML, LSH, Keras, and custom geospatial and temporal clustering.
- Built Spark jobs processing terabytes of data every day.
- Set up infrastructure for managing and monitoring pipelines and APIs.
- Built tools and dashboards that freed up engineering time and gave sales and customer success more leverage.
Worked on cross-datasource suggestion ranking, distributed data sharing, data consistency and retention, authentication and authorization, application security, internal deployability, and internal APIs. Later built Ava, which finds and alerts on objects in Palantir Gotham using similarity and novelty.
Earlier
Worked on the core code checker; ZeroMQ, S3, Elasticsearch.
Built a scalable, fault-tolerant, document-searchable auditing system on Apache Lucene and DynamoDB.
Linux server administration; deployed and managed campus services.
Computer Programming; Digital Signal Analysis and Applications.
Helped build Virtual Labs, an MHRD initiative to teach engineering sciences to students across India.
Education
Honors in computational geometry, advised by Dr. Kishore Kothapalli. Coursework: Advanced Algorithms and Computational Theory, Number Theory and Cryptology (Adv.), Principles of Information Security, Topics in Distributed Algorithms, Topics in Computational Geometry.
